The Vermillion County Hospital death cases were one of the more significant cases in which Mr. Frey has participated. A licensed practical nurse who had been entrusted with the primary daily operation of the four-bed intensive care unit at Vermillion County Hospital murdered patients at the facility by giving them potassium and other drugs and ultimately was convicted of murder. Mr. Frey participated with other counsel in filing medical malpractice actions in the mid-1990s against the hospital and others on behalf of over seventy victims and was able to assist them in receiving over eleven million dollars in compensation.
In 2006 Mr. Frey tried an action against North Knox School Corporation on behalf of three young boys who were molested by a school bus driver employed by the school corporation and received a jury verdict of approximately 1.5 million dollars.
In 2008 Mr. Frey tried a defamation action on behalf of a deputy sheriff who was falsely accused by a local newspaper of committing crimes against a motorist whom he had allegedly stopped and the jury returned a verdict of 1.5 million dollars. Other jury verdicts include a recent medical malpractice verdict of $890,000 against an orthopedic surgeon who was negligent in handling a fractured leg in a diabetic patient and 1.3 million dollars on behalf of a client who was severely injured when she was injured and then became the victim of medical malpractice.
